PURE SPECULATION

A project in movement against the culturally imposed and behavioral norms for ‘being’ female, and the tendency to overthink  our own behavior from an outsider's gaze, Questions Collective creates space for a more visceral experience of being female. You are invited to join us.

Releasing anger, improvisation, sounds from within and bodily instant expression. We call it Pure Speculation, because we can only speculate about what it means. It is about doing and letting go and extreme feminine energy.

Our first outcome of Pure Speculation was an audio piece. A violent improvisation in which you can hear an observing voiceover speculating about the meaning of the produced sounds during a Purely Speculative Performance. This first part of Pure Speculation is part of the soundwork ‘Nasty Temple Radio’ of The Collective of Collectives, that tries to go beyond the individual identity in the production of collective knowledge. The Collective of Collectives was formed during a residency at Forecast Forum in Berlin, with Jerszy Seymour, Parasite 2.0 and Sonder. Following the infamous Manifesto Antropofago from Oswald Andrade, Nasty Temple is the result of swallowing up and digesting four different collectives of artists, assimilating them and turning them into a new bolus, a new collective body.

Our second outcome of Pure Speculation was a live performance on the annual Museumnacht (museum night) at gallery Nieuw Dakota in Amsterdam. An exploration of the boundaries of emotional expression in a public space. A public space that is cultural, refined, in many ways so far removed from the primitive and accidental. And yet, with the label Art, the perfect context for Pure Speculation.

We hope to create more spaces for Pure Speculation, maybe in outdoor public space, in a museum or in a gallery. The point is to make space, attract people to join, and let the rest speculate.
